What’s It All About?

The Audi Dublin International Film Festival is Ireland’s premier event taking place in February each year. Established in 2003, its core elements include a select programme of the most exciting international cinema currently on offer, the best new Irish cinema, a retrospective of much-loved and forgotten classics, a focus on screenwriting and unique access to a plethora of international filmmaking talent including actors, writers and directors and behind-the-scenes talent.

The festival has four awards, among which the most precious is the Volta Award. The other three awards are AUDI-ence Award, Discovery Award and Best Shorts Award.

Watch Out For!

Opening Film

Maudie

Maudie is a story about an arthritic Nova Scotia woman who works as a housekeeper. She yearns to be independent, to live away from her protective family, and she also yearns, passionately, to create art.  Over a period of time, she hones her skills as an artist and eventually becomes a beloved figure in the community. The film is directed by Aisling Walsh and features Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke.

Indian Connect

Thithi

Raam Reddy’s directorial Thithi has been shortlisted for the festival. The story is about how generations of sons who live in a village in South India react to the death of Century Gowda, their grandfather, a 101-year-old man. The three storylines intertwine before converging at Century Gowda’s ‘Thithi’, the final rite 11 days after a dweath.
