talks to Rohini Nag Madnani about why Indian filmmakers should take notice of Marseille

Why should an Indian producer shoot in Marseille?
There are 162 production companies whose activities concern the production of short films, feature films, TV fictions and documentaries, as well as light entertainment and institutional and promotional films. Over 900 structures, personal services and equipment businesses, associations and organisations have an activity linked entirely or partially to the cinema and audio-visual sector. Marseille is not only a picturesque location to shoot but has infrastructure that has worked with many big names in Hollywood as well as French and world cinema. Marseille has a beautiful mix of locations which thanks to our infrastructure are easy to shoot at.

Are there any specific rebates that Marseille offers apart from the French incentives?
Along with the French incentives offered to national to local and foreign filmmakers, Marseille does not offer any extra monetary rebates. But we have many attractive covenants for filmmakers. Right from accompanying film crews to help scout for locations as well as hiring local talent, we help filmmakers at every leg of the shoot. Coordinating and issuing permits for filming along public locations to arranging for private properties as locations we help through every process. We also provide F&B and hotel stays at good prices after negotiating on the filmmakers’ behalf.

Which is the best time of the year to shoot in Marseille?
The beauty of Marseille is that our locations are film friendly throughout the year. A filmmaker can come around 12 months and shoot with pleasant weather. Marseille benefits from an exceptionally warm and sunny climate with around 2,800 hours of sun per year.

What is the process to shoot in Marseille?
After filling out the form on our website, we will get back to you. After that, you just have to mail us the script and mention the locations, public or private. After that, we will start the process of scouting for locations and plan your shoot accordingly.
