Very often, the twists and intrigue that take place behind the scenes in our industry are far more interesting than the films that we churn out. Take, for example, this multi-starrer that was being produced by an established producer-director and was to be directed by his friend, a reasonably big name in his own right.
It seems the film’s hopes of ever going on the floors have been permanently dashed and the apparent reason for this is the very high fee quoted by one of the key actors. In fact, the price asked is so out of sync with the actor’s market value that it almost seems that the actor is politely saying ‘no’ to the project.
But why is that so unusual? After all, this is not the first time this tactic has been used by actors to wriggle out of projects. Well, what makes this case unique is that, apparently, the actor has made this unreasonable demand at the behest of the director who is not interested in the project any more but doesn’t know how to break the news to the producer. Now that’s what you call a Bollywood ‘friendship’!
