Things can change so rapidly in our line of work, and what seems like a life-saver at one point can suddenly become a liability.
Take, for example, this very recently released film. Apparently, the actual director of the film is not the one officially credited as such. The story goes that when this film was first offered to the actual director, he was delighted as he had been cooling his heels for quite some time since his previous film had tanked at the box office. However, for one reason or another, the release of this film kept getting delayed.
In the interim, he directed another film which turned out to be a sleeper hit. So when the time came for the much-delayed earlier film to release, the director no longer wanted to be associated with it and take the sheen off his new-found status as a successful director. Long story short: he managed to convince the producers to take his name off the director’s credit.
As they say in Hindi: Waqt waqt ki baat hai!
