Guess Who?

Box Office India

For most producers, the biggest challenge is getting commercially viable stars to sign on to their projects. So they try to entice actors with their directors’ credentials and/or their script. However, the very opposite is true in the case of this recently announced film. The producers have a reasonably exciting lead pair signed on… but no director or script!

Here’s how this bizarre scenario came to be. The producers did have a script and the stars on board, and proceeded to make a splashy announcement. The plan – and the hope – was that this would be enough to get a studio to partner and bankroll the project. However, when they did meet with a few potential investors, the feedback they received was unanimous: the script was not only weak, it was surprising that the producers thought it was worth pitching at all!
Last heard, the producers were scrambling to find a decent script and a competent director before the actors move on and give away their dates.

Moral of the story: Look before you leap… and cover all bases before you tweet!
