We all know just how important it is to have a holiday period locked for your release and that’s why more and more filmmakers are announcing their release dates so much in advance. If you recall, Akshay Kumar had announced Crack being directed by Neeraj Pandey as this year’s Independence Day release. But when he realized that the movie would overshoot that deadline, he quickly decided to release his other film Toilet – Ek Prem Katha on the same date – and the movie is doing roaring business everywhere. It seems, history is going to repeat itself next year, and once again with Kumar’s movies.
As we all know, Kumar wanted to release one of his next films, Padman, during next year’s Republic Day weekend. But when the producers of 2.0 (starring Akshay Kumar along with Rajinikanth) locked this release date, Kumar decided to move Padman to April 13.
Now a close source informs us that due to heavy VFX work, 2.0 will probably not make it during Republic Day next year. If this indeed happens, Kumar will probably shift Padman back to the Republic Day weekend as the movie is already complete.
It seems every Republic Day and Independence Day weekend is going to belong to Akshay Kumar, any which way!
PS: Akshay Kumar’s Gold is due to release during Independence Day weekend in 2018.
