sukhwinderSukhwinder Singh talks about the title track of Shivaay, his single Gajanan and his musical tribute to Kishore Kumar

The Shivaay title track Bolo har har will send listeners into a trance with Sukhwinder Singh’s chanting. “I knew everybody involved in this song personally and professionally. Mithoon Sharma called me to sing this song in the film. It is a great feeling to work with an upcoming composer. It was a very interesting opportunity and I did it without a second thought,” says Singh.

On the song per se, Singh reveals, “It was a promotional song, and the ambience was very good. The set was rocking; it was spiritual and very traditional. It is a new type of song. They have done an experiment with some interesting elements in the song. Mithoon understands sound very well. People are talking about the song.”

Recently, Singh decided to do a few covers of some Kishore Kumar’s tracks under the series called I Love You Kishoreda. “A friend requested me to sing a Kishore Kumar song as a birthday gift to her. She told me to sing Ek ajnabi haseena se. Later, I recorded another song of Kishoreda and I started getting more interested in recording his songs. I sang around 10-12 songs and shot them for the digital platform. I love Kishoreda and everybody who loves music usually loves his songs. I have recorded the songs as a tribute to Kishoreda.”

After his last track from Bajirao Mastani on Ganesha, Singh is back with his second track on Ganpati featuring Ajay Devgn. The song, Gajanan, was released on the occasion of Ganapati, and he says, “Gajanan has been composed by Jeet Ganguly. The song is very energetic and it gave me true happiness. I have told Bhushan Kumar and T-Series to fix me up for such devotional songs every year.”

The singer has currently recorded for Vishal Bhardwaj’s film Rangoon. “The music of Rangoon is very interesting and consists of an opera kind of music. Apart from that, I have lent my voice to a very cute film Motu Patlu King Of Kings. I have sung the title track for this film, which has been written by Gulzarsaab. The songs are very visual. If one listens to the audio, one can imagine the visuals for the song. Kids and adults alike will love the songs of Motu Patlu. I am getting more opportunities for dance numbers, as usual. I have already recorded 30 to 35 dance songs and they will release soon,” he adds.
