It’s Got To be Love

Vishal MishraSinger-composer Vishal Mishra’s latest track Pyaar ho from the upcoming film Munna Michael might just be his biggest break as a singer, to date. Mishra tells Komal Sharma about his journey

Vishal Mishra was pursuing a degree in law when he participated in a reality show just to do his parents proud.  The talented singer won the contest and, after that, there was no looking back. His big break came soon, with none other than Lalit Pandit for the film Besharam.

Mishra has come a long way since then and is all set with his upcoming song Pyaar ho. “It is a very magical song. Actually, I approached Sabbir sir (Khan), who heard a few of my compositions. He liked my voice and asked me to compose few songs for him. I took this opportunity very seriously. The next thing I knew is that we were all set to work together and recording a song for his film Munna Michael. It is a beautiful song picturised on Tiger Shroff. My song is the only romantic ballad in the film. Pyaar ho is even more special for me as the film Munna Michael is about Michael Jackson,” he says.

On his collaboration with Khan for the film, Mishra reveals, “Sabbir sir explained that he was looking for an out-and-out-love song and he gave me a short narration of the script to get the feel of the subject of the film. The first thing that came to mind was ‘pyaar ho’,” Mishra recalls.

The vocalist says they developed a tune from those two words and Sunidhi (Chauhan), who has sung the female part of the song, has raised it to another level. “Whenever I listen to the song, I feel really happy and can’t help but smile.”

On getting the opportunity to work with Mahesh Manjrekar for his Marathi film F.U: Friendship Unlimited, Mishra adds, “Friendship Unlimited is ‘fun unlimited’’ because when you compose and sing so many songs and work with talented singers like Sukhwinder Singh, Sonu Nigam, Iulia Vantur and Shreya Ghoshal, and having none other than THE Salman Khan sing for you, it is a dream come true. The film was a blessing and I met the right people at the right time.”

Before signing off, Mishra shares details of upcoming projects, “I am doing a movie called Aap Ke Kamre Mein Koi Rahta Hai; I am doing a movie with Irrfan called Qareeb Qareeb Single; and a project that I can’t really talk about.”
