Hong Kong’s famed action director John Woo will be seen at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival with his latest film Manhunt. The movie is Woo’s long-awaited comeback to his classical action genre.

Manhunt is an intense story that talks about the journey of Du Qiu who was a respected lawyer once but was later framed as a perpetrator in a murder case. He is tracked down by veteran detective Yamura.

The film has many well-known Asian actors playing pivotal parts like Chinese Actor Zhang Hanyu as Du Qiu, Japanese Actor Masaharu Fukuyama as Yamura the detective and Korean Actress Ha Ji-won as lady assassin who pursues Du Qiu.

Manhunt premiered at the Venice International Film Festival recently and received many accolades from the industry. Now, several fans, especially the Korean admirers are expecting John Woo’s first visit to the Busan International Film Festival to be memorable.

Woo’s Manhunt is the latest remake of Kimi Yo Fundo No Kawa Wo Watare (1976) and pays tribute to the legendary Japanese actor Takakura Ken. The film will also amaze the film buffs that are deeply ingrained with memories of Hong Kong films from the 1980s and ‘90s.

Manhunt will meet audience at the Gala Presentation that introduces new films from contemporary master directors and the most-talked films in a year. Butterfly Sleep by Jeong Jae-eun, Mother! By Darren Aronofsky, Narratage by Yukisada Isao, and The Third Murder by Kore-eda Hirokazu will also be screened in the Gala Presentation of the festival.

Miike Takashi’s 100th film Blade Of The Immortal is a samurai action film based on a popular Japanese manga of the same title and will be showcased in A Window on Asian Cinema of the 22nd Busan International Film Festival. In the film, Kimura Takuya performs as a cursed samurai and Sugisaki Hana acts a girl who accompanies with him for revenge of her killed parents.
