Sriram Raghavan, Director

A film festival is a celebration of cinema like we celebrate other festivals. It gives film students a chance to congregate and experience the best of contemporary cinema. You get to watch films from all over the world in a short, concentrated burst of time. It  fills your head with ideas, images and sensations. It certainly raises one’s standards. You also get a chance to interact with so many filmmakers. I also look forward to the question-answer sessions, panel discussions and more. The MFF is my city’s own film festival, so of course I love it. This year, we are spoilt for choice since the festival has started acquiring its own identity and individuality. I live in the suburbs, so it’s a bit of a production getting to town but no complaints. This year, the MFF has shown some of the best films. I was able to catch the French Cinema package and Sergio Leone’s restored and uncut version of Once Upon A Time In America, which was four hours of pure heaven.
