Padmavati Mayhem

04While the release of Padmavati is awaited with bated breath, there is an equal amount of anxiety in the industry. Originally slated for release on December 1, the film had many scrambling for alternative dates to avoid clashing with this biggie. Now, anxiety levels have climbed manifold, with the rumour mills suggesting that the film may look at releasing in January next year, if all goes well.

With Kaalakandi and Mukkabaaz slated for release on January 12, and PadMan on January 25 along with Aiyaary, a shuffle play is expected. If Padmavati releases in February, it could send the makers of films like Sony Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Hichki, Parmanu – The story of Pokhran and Pari into a tizzy.

Just when everything appears to have been settled, the new year looks uncertain again, thanks to the Padmavati effect. The film has already garnered tremendous interest from distributors, buyers and the audience. An exciting new year this is going to be.
