Punch Ka Dum!

After Desi Boyz, director Rohit Dhawan is back with yet another film Dishoom. The director, along with his lead actors John Abraham, Akshaye Khanna, Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez and producer Sajid Nadiadwala launched the film’s trailer today (June 1, 2016). Here is a sneak peek of what happened at the do:

John Abraham on working in Dishoom

Rohit might be the real brother of Varun but he is also my younger brother. And to be very honest it was great working with the entire team. Varun and I share great chemistry which you will be seeing in the film and we share the same chemistry in real life too. Jacqueline is a great co-star and so is Sajid as a producer.

Abraham on action films

Currently I am shooting for Force 2, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. It is too early to talk about it. May be in the future I will do a comedy film.

Varun Dhawan on Dishoom

I was bowled over by the story and obviously the film is being directed by my brother. This is for the first time that I am holding a gun in a film. I play a cop from UAE so the body language is very different, compared to Mumbai police. So I had to learn that body language and style. I spent some time with them and learned the way they work and how they keep people in check. The walk which you can see is how Rohit, my brother walks, so I followed him.

Varun on working with brother

Rohit was always very strict with me, he used to take retakes on my scenes and always was very strict with me throughout the shoot. So it was not fun for me!

Jacqueline Fernandez on action

Actually I was happy to be part of an action film. There is a lot of chase sequences and action happening, which I love. So I didn’t do much of action but yes I am part of the chase sequence which I enjoyed the most. The bike which we rode was most fun. It’s not like I am beating and bashing everyone but I was part of those scenes where these two heroes were bashing the villains. Dishoom has high octane action and to be part of such a film was amazing.

Fernandez on fun on sets

It was lot of fun, we used to do Zumba after finishing our shoot. Working with the entire team was fun.

Rohit Dhawan On the title

In India a kid even before he says ‘maa’ ‘paa’ he learns to say ‘dishoom’. Be it any state of India, it’s the first word that a child utters while he is playing with his toys or with his friends. I just feel that for the action genre there is no better word than Dishoom. It describes action in just one word. Jis bhi baat mein thodi punch ho, it means dishoom.

Abraham on Dishoom being a franchise

When I heard the narration I told Sajid (Nadiadwala) that it will go upto Dishoom 8. It’s an outstanding story and has all the capability of being a franchise. This is a very young action adventure film, the characters of Kabir and Junaid played by me and Varun will find new problems which they can solve in other franchises.

Akshaye Khanna On Comeback

When I heard the one line story that the biggest and strongest player of the Indian cricket team is being kidnapped a day before the India-Pakistan match and where I play the kidnapper, I knew I am doing the film. I have been away for a while for some personal reason but I am happy to be back. It’s a great team and we had fun shooting the film.
