Shirish Kunder’s Kriti Released

Muvizz.com today released Kriti, a short film directed by Shirish Kunder, featuring Manoj Bajpayee, Radhika Apte, Neha Sharma and Manu Rishi Chadda. Also present at the launch was Kangana Ranaut, who unveiled it. Here’s what they said at the do:

Kangana Ranaut on Kriti

The film was such an intense experience and amazingly written. It’s very hard to make a film and add structure to it, given the timeline. It’s also very difficult to get in all the acts in such limited time. But with this film, everything is correct be it the acting, script or direction.

Kangana Ranaut on short films

Everything else in the world is becoming small and the future of cinema is internet movies. The West has already accepted it and is working on it and the sooner we also accept it, we too can start working towards it. Two-hour-long cinema is not the future, short films are and we are not very far away from the future if all of us nationwide accept this change. This is where cinema is heading. I myself have directed a short film so I know what the task is all about.

Shirish Kunder on directing Kriti

While working on it I never looked at it as a short film. I just went with the flow. But yes it the most liberating thing to have happened as I can make what I want; there is no censorship and there is no release problem. And yes it’s the future. Another best thing about short films is that you make the film in a few months and release it whereas for a feature film, you make it for months and then it gets a release almost after a year and by the time it releases you are a totally different person.

Manoj Bajpayee on the film

It’s a routine life for an actor to hear scripts, choose scripts and then act but short films are totally different in terms of making. You have to achieve something in a shorter time, there is freedom of speech, you are not worried about the box office. And when we started the portal (Muvizz.com) we decided to go ahead with short films, Taandav and Kriti being a two of them, and in the future also I will continue doing them.

Neha Sharma on the film

I am honoured to be part of the film which features such powerful actors. The entire team is a powerhouse of talent and I learned a lot during the making. It was a new experience for me.
