SRK Releases Raees Trailer

img-20161207-wa0009Revealing that he loved the concept behind the film, Shah Rukh Khan released the trailer of Raees today. Also present at the launch, held at Yash Raj Studios, were the film’s director Rahul Dholakia, producer Ritesh Sidhwani and actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Shah Rukh Khan on Raees

Raees is different from what I have done so far because it is a journey from childhood to the age of 40-50. Both the writers have written a wonderful script. The character is definitely portrayed in a negative way but the film has a good heart. Raees does not mean ‘rich’ but ‘benevolent’ and when we do something wrong but take responsibility for it, it is a big deal. I liked this idea.

The trailer has a lot of violence but isme bohot acha falsafa hai that when you take responsibility for something, God will forgive you. I loved the philosophy behind this film. Rahul did not want an over-the-top commercial film and the characterisation and dialogue are very strong. This will boost the film and give it body and soul.

Shah Rukh Khan On Nawazuddin Siddiqui

The star on the poster takes away the credit but actors like Nawaz bhai and Zeeshan (Mohammad Zeeshan Ayub) make us look really nice. I am a little older than they are and I don’t want to sound patronising but the nicest part of this film is the enactment. Nawazuddin is outstanding and there was so much to learn from him.

Nawazuddin On Working With Shah Rukh Khan

My character clicked because of what Shah Rukh sir plays in the film. He had told me on the very first day that he would respect my character and every time we used to do a scene, I could feel that respect. The status and my performance in the film are because of him. When you do a scene, it’s a give and take. If you respect a character and see the character the way it is, toh adhi si jyada acting wahi ho jati hai. I was a little nervous to work with Shah Rukh Khan initially but once we started doing the scenes, the chemistry built.

This character and the story are fictional, created by four writers. We have been working on this film for five years. We took a lot of time to pen the story and started working on it in 2010.

Shah Rukh Khan On Working With Rahul Dholakia

He has made this film with kindness and patience. Things were delayed due to my injury but he waited patiently. Despite the delay, he worked with the same enthusiasm. I thank him for bearing with all of us so patiently.

Shah Rukh Khan On Raees Music

Ram Sampath has added local flavour in modern terms in the background. He has done a lot of research and has knowledge of Gujarat music. He has amalgamated this with modern music and it is an amazing fusion. We did not want the music to sound old but wanted it to be cool. We have used many instruments that are popular in Gujarat. I never go for the background score of my own films because that’s someone else’s job but I found it so intriguing that I wanted to listen to it again and again.

Ritesh Sidhwani  On The Impact Of Raees

The teaser really grabbed the attention of the audience and they are waiting for the film to release. So I think it worked. I am glad that people are excited and looking for to it.
