Singer Javed Ali recently crooned Kuch nahi  from Salman Khan’s movie Tubelight. He speaks to Komal Sharma about why the song is special to him and how thrilled he is to sing for the superstar

For Javed Ali, singing Kuch nahi was pure serendipity because the song was added to the film Tubelight at the very last moment. “I am a judge at a singing reality show and Salman Khan came there to promote Tubelight. We didn’t interact much during the show and I wished I could get just one song in this film. A few weeks ago, I got a call from Pritamda, who asked me to record a song. I thought it would be a scratch recording but it wasn’t. Pritamda wanted me to sing this song!”

Explaining why Kuch nahi is a situational song, Ali says, “The song is recorded in three different styles. Actually, we did this because we wanted to bring in that pain, where the audience can feel that emotions that come to the fore when you lose someone close to your heart.”

While singing, Ali says he is mindful of tune, words and situation. “It is a mix of these three things, so it’s easy to understand the song. If you have an experience, then you automatically get the feel of the song and you don’t have to worry about how you will record it,” he avers.

Ali says he faced no challenges while recording this number. “My only concern was that the song had been added at the last minute. I had to record the song in a way that people would cherish it. Even in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, I lent my voice to the last song, Tu jo mila, which created a huge buzz.”

Javed Ali says he will be coming out with singles very soon. “I can’t say anything about it right now but the news will definitely make its way out soon.”
