What’s It All About?

The 16th annual Tribeca Film Festival will be held from April 19 to 30. The festival’s line-up includes a variety of independent films including documentaries, narrative features and shorts, as well as family-friendly films. This year, the festival will feature films from 28 countries, including 78 world premieres, six international premieres, six North American premieres, two US premieres, and six New York premieres.

The Sword Of Baahubali

The Sword Of Baahubali will be in the Virtual Arcade section for 10 minutes. As the armies of Bhalladeva and Shivudu are set to charge into battle, two friends find themselves on a battlefield. While they watch the action unfold, they are unexpectedly asked to participate. Their mission – to find a legendary warrior’s sword and deliver it to him, ensuring victory. Directed by S S Rajamouli, the film features Ritu Varma, Sri Simha Koduri, Prabhas, Rana Daggubati and Sathyaraj.

 Newton

Newton is an idealistic young office clerk volunteering to be a poll worker. He’s keen to put his energy to good use and help his country. When he is presented with an opportunity to head up a dangerous polling station in the deepest jungle, which has been besieged by communist troops for decades, Newton eagerly jumps at the opportunity to prove his mettle. The film is directed by Amit V Masurkar and features Rajkummar Rao, Anjali Patil, Pankaj Tripathi and Raghubir Yadav.

 A Suitable Girl

Dipti, Amrita and Ritu are all young, modern women in India looking to get married—some desperately, some reluctantly. A Suitable Girl follows them over the course of four years as they juggle family, career and friends, intimately capturing their thoughts on arranged marriage, giving them a voice, and offering a unique perspective into the nuances of this institution. Directed by Sarita Khurana and Smriti Mundhra, the film stars Dipti Admane, Amrita Jhanwar, Ritu Taparia and Seema Taparia.
