The 74th Venice International Film Festival, organized by La Biennale di Venezia, will run at Venice Lido from August 30 to September 9, 2017, directed by Alberto Barbera. The festival’s long association with Indian cinema dates back to international premiere of Sant Tukaram in 1937. Also, Satyajit Ray’s Aparajito was awarded the prestigious Golden Lion which made the festival a global platform for India films. In year 2016, Shubhashish Bhutiani’s Film Mukti Bhawan received a standing ovation at the festival.
Paolo Bertolin, Consultant (Venice Film Festival) will be in Mumbai from June 28 – 30, 2017 for pre selections of Indian Films. The screening will be at NFDC office in Mumbai.
To be eligible for pre-selection, a film should have been produced during the twelve months preceding the festival and should be offered for world premiere only, meaning that they should have not held any public screening before not even in India. Interested Filmmakers, Producers, World–sales agents, Distributors are requested to kindly send the films in – DVDs/ pen drives, hard drives, DCPs, Blue Ray, MP4, MOV (duly subtitled in English) along with the details like title of the film (both in english and original language), name of the director, duration of the film, status of the film (fine cut, rough cut – details about sound, vfx etc), short synopsis 5-10 line and contact details.
