She couldn’t have asked for a better debut. From her very first film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodiopposite Shah Rukh Khan, YRF’s blue-eyed girl Anushka Sharma struck gold. Having worked with leading actors like Khan, Akshay Kumar and Shahid Kapoor, Sharma has not only bagged some big films by prominent directors, but she’s also charmed advertisers.
From a range of products like cameras, soaps, two-wheelers and a telecom operator, the leggy actress recently launched Nivea deodorant’s new campaign Go Sleevless. At a media conference this week, Sharma chatted with the media about her latest endeavor and her upcoming films.
It’s good that endorsements are coming my way. I am happy to participate in promoting such brands. But as a celeb, I make sure I choose the right brands, ones I connect with.
Her Shopping Regime
I would have preferred being a man because I think they are lucky as they don’t have to think while shopping. They know that no matter what, they will always end up wearing a shirt and trousers. But women have so many options that we end up breaking our heads.
But I am a quick shopper. I don’t spend more than 20 minutes shopping including billing and exiting from the shop. I have been a model so I know what suits me and what I want.
The Top Actress?
I joined this industry just four years ago. Before that, I never thought, ‘Oh, she is the No 1 heroine, so I will watch her film.’ As a viewer, you don’t watch a film based on who’s acting in it and whether they are the top actors or not. If the teaser interests you, you watch the film. So there’s no such thing as the No 1 actress, not according to me, at least.
Working With Katrina Kaif In Yash Chopra’s Next
It was a refreshing experience to work with Katrina. She is very friendly. We shot together in London and even went out a few times. She is hardworking and I appreciate her for what she has achieved.
On Shah Rukh Khan
As everyone knows, SRK is lovely, gracious and funny. It is always fun when he is on the set. He is so entertaining that time flies when you’re with him. I never thought I would get to work with him again, that too in a film directed by Yash Chopra!
On Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola
I am very happy to get a chance to work with Vishal Bhardwaj as his films are always different and he portrays his characters very differently. Usually, filmmakers have certain characteristics in mind when they script a character but as the film progresses the character’s true essence changes. But Vishal sticks to the character that was narrated to you right from day one. It’s a fun film and working with Imran (Khan) was the best part.
On Raju Hirani’s Peekay
I am all excited to work with Aamir Khan and Raju Hirani as the duo is an institution. I can’t talk about the film right now.
On Bombay Velvet
I haven’t signed on the dotted line for the project. It is still pending. So I can’t comment until we sign the film.
