What’s It All About?
The River to River Florence Indian Film Festival is the only festival in Italy totally devoted to films from and about India. It will celebrate its 12th edition in Florence from December 7 to 13, followed by an edition in Rome from December 14 to 16. The three-day chapter in Rome is a first and will be held at cinema Trevi.
Over these years, the festival has grown and gained awareness among the audience, film industry and press. Many films have been screened and quite a few filmmakers, actors and producers have attended the festival.
The festival is supported by Regione Toscana and Fondazione Sistema Toscana as part of the Cinquanta Giorni di Cinema Internazionale a Firenze and will be held in the heart of the city, in the beautiful 20s-style Odeon theatre.
Watch Out For!
Opening Film (Dec 7 in Florence and Dec 14 in Rome)
Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs Of Wasseypur will open the festival. The film features Manoj Bajpai, Piyush Mishra and Richa Chaddha. It is a saga about two families fighting for three generations. After the screening, there will be a Q&A session with Kashyap.
A documentary on the life and career of Amitabh Bachchan, Everlasting Light by Ram Madhvani, will be screened. Bachchan will also be present for a Q&A session after the screening of his film Black.
Closing Film (Dec 13 in Florence and Dec 16 in Rome )
While Gangs Of Wasseypur will open the fest, its sequel will be the closing film of the festival.
Besides film screenings, the festival will also host interactive sessions on topics like ‘Shakti: Women in Indian cinema and literature’ and ‘Bollywood and the expression of emotions in today’s India’.
