What’s It All About
In its third year, the International Film Festival Ahmedabad (IFFA) aims to facilitate dialogue between cultures and nations through cinema. IFFA is a melting pot of global ideas and ideologies but also provides a platform for Indian and international talent in storytelling.
This year, the festival has partnered with PVR. Under this new association, PVR will select five films from the IFFA slate for special screenings at its multiplexes. Shalu Sabharwal, VP, Films & Marketing, PVR Cinemas, and Prakhar Joshi, Head of Programming, will travel to Ahmedabad during the festival to select these films.
The final five will receive a limited release under PVR’s new Directors’ Cut & Directors’ Rare brand. PVR Director’s Cut is a new and prime property of PVR that will soon begin operations in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. After being screened in Director’s Cut, the five films will enjoy a limited release across all PVR properties in major metropolitan cities under the new Director’s Rare brand.
IFFA will not only be about films, art and music performances but there will also be three workshops for the inspiring filmmakers, out of which one will be curated by Whistling Woods International.
Apart from that we have a film quiz competition called Battle Of The Brains along with special silent film package to be hosted by VJ, Actor, Musician Luke Kenny.
Ketan Mehta’s film, Rang Rasiya, will be the opening film. There will be three Asian premieres Anurag Kashyap’s, That Girl In Yellow Boots, which is also the closing film, the internationally acclaimed Gandu by Quashik Mukherjee aka ‘Q’, and Rahul Bose’, Fired.
Gandu was earlier slated to premiere at the Naya Cinema Film Festival in Mumbai in July. However, the explicit content did not go down well with the censors and the Mumbai screenings were cancelled.
The IFFA is an initiative of PrimeMover, an upstart integrated media and entertainment company focused on creating, aggregating and disseminating content across platforms and genres and is co- produced by Go Banans and Init Design Studios.
