She started her acting career with the Malayalam movie Prajapathi. It was a Mammootty starrer, but the film did not do any wonders at the box office or for Aditi Rao Hydari's career. Her next film, again in the regional space, was the Tamil movie Sringaram. The movie was critically acclaimed. Then came a spate of Hindi films and the actress became busy with her career in Bollywood.
All that changed when director Mani Ratnam chose her as his leading lady for the Tamil film Kaatru Veliyidai. Her work in the film was hugely appreciated. This was followed by the successful Hindi film Padmaavat.
After Malayalam and Tamil, Hydari made her Telugu debut with the recently released Sammohanam. The movie which was released along with the much anticpated romantic film Naa Nuvve, turned out to be a winner at the box office. Naa Nuvve failed but Sammohanam won the hearts of the audiences.
The film which features Sudheer Babu opposite Hydari, is a love story of a cartoonist, who hates cinema and a top actress. Directed by Mohanakrishna Indraganti, Sammohanam hit screens on June 15, 2018.
