After a decent start, Bharat gains momentum

Salman Khan’s Eid offering, Bharat, picked up in the afternoon after a slow morning due to the festivities earlier in the day. The film, which features Katrina Kaif as the leading lady, even ran housefull in some centres. Exhibitors across the country weigh in on the film’s business in the evening and predict what it will be like during the night shows.

Bharat took a good opening of 65-70 per cent and is picking up for the evening shows. Overall, the film has received a decent review so it will gain traction during the weekend. People like the film; they feel it’s a decent entertainer, a good one-time watch. Advance booking for the evening and night shows is also good, and occupancy should be around 70 per cent. Bharat might collect Rs 35-37 crore today.

Bharat is doing very well right now. The opening in our properties was around 90 per cent. On average, it was 70-80 per cent in multiplexes. The advance booking for this Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif-starrer is also very good. The film will have taken an opening of Rs 40 crore or more.

Most of the shows of Bharat are housefull. The film picked up very well in the afternoon. Today being Eid, people have stepped out of their homes, and those who have watched the film have given mixed reviews. Some have found the film ‘okay’ and others are saying there is nothing new to look forward to in it. However, the business is good and tomorrow’s advance booking is healthy. The morning occupancy was 65 per cent today while the film ran housefull in some cinemas in the morning itself.

Right now, the occupancy of Bharat is more than 50 per cent. The morning was a little dull due to Eid but the film picked up in the afternoon. People are thoroughly enjoying the film. The evening should trend well at ticket counters as footfalls have started increasing. It is difficult to say how much the film will earn today but I think it should earn Rs 30-35 crore across India.

Ashutosh Agrawal, Director, Star World Cinemas

The occupancy of the Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif-starrer Bharat is quite good. Occupancy for the morning show was 40 per cent but in the late afternoon, the movie ran housefull. Advance booking for the late evening as well as night shows are fabulous. The night shows will run house full for sure. The film will earn Rs 33 crore plus pan-India.
