Amitabh Bachchan is starring in the Marathi film AB Ani CD starring Vikram Gokhale in the lead role. The actor started shooting for the film on Tuesday. Directed by Milind Lele, the film is about Chandrakant Deshpande and his birthday plans for his long-time friend Amitabh Bachchan.
Producer Akshay Bardapurkar talking to a daily shared the experience about the shoot day. He said, "The scene required Bachchan sir to walk into the auditorium and wave out to the crowd. But he spontaneously added a few lines in Marathi, and the effect was surreal. While we thought that he would pack up in three to four hours, he gave adequate time to each scene and was on the set for almost seven hour.”
The film brings together two amazing performers, who have shared screen space in Agneepath and Khuda Gawah. The producer also expressed his surprise that Bachchan had not been cast in a Marathi film till date. (He has appeared in just one song earlier). He opined, “Filmmakers must have assumed that he would charge a bomb, or may have been unable to come up with a script that would suit him. When he heard our script, he gave his nod immediately. It was difficult to get his dates, but we finally managed it."
The film was earlier titled Deshpande Chi Gosht, but once Bachchan agreed to be a part of the film the new title was finalised.
The film's cast includes Subodh Bhave, Sayali Sanjeev and Akshay Tanksale. It is produced by Planet Marathi and Akshay Bardapurkar.
