Ali Abbas Zafar directorial Bharat that released on Eid last week had broken the first day record of the magnum opus Baahubali: The Conclusion by earning Rs 42.10 crore in a day. Well, it didn't just stop there! The film once again surpassed this all-time highest grosser in terms of its first weekend numbers. Bharat churned out Rs 144.65 crore in its five-day weekend and it now stands at the second position among the all-time highest first weekend grossers of Hindi cinema.
Interestingly, the highest first weekend grosser of Hindi cinema is also a Salman Khan-starrer and Ali Abbas Zafar directorial, Sultan. The film which was also released during Eid of 2016, had earned Rs 180.36 crore in its five-day weekend. Sultan's numbers are approximately 25 per cent higher than that of Bharat. On the other hand, Bharat’s business is approximately 14 per cent higher than the second installment of Baahubali that collected Rs 126.67 crore in three-days weekend.
