Anubhav Sinha's Article 15 has been going rock steady at the box office since the day of its release, especially when it comes to weekday numbers. The film, even in its second week, is performing well at the ticket counters. It garnered Rs 46.61 crore and counting in 13 days of its release. Article 15 is one of the top three films of Ayushmann Khurrana after Badhaai Ho and AndhaDhun as far as lifetime numbers are concerned.
Article 15's success was a result of strong word of mouth among the audience. It was the second highest day one (Rs 4.66 crore), weekend one (Rs 18.70 crore) and week one (Rs 31.56 crore) grosser among all the films of Khurrana after Badhaai Ho. The film surpassed the business of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan just in 10 days of its release with Rs 42.47 crore.
Article 15 is a crime drama, inspired by several real life incidents which include the Badaun rape case of 2014 among others. The film's key focus is on Article 15 of the Indian Constitution that outlaws discrimination on the basis of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth.
