Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari on working with Kangana Ranaut in Panga

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s third directorial, Panga, starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead role is all set to go on floors in Bhopal from Nov 11.  Tiwari has fleshed out the story from a one-line idea that came from the production studio, Fox Star. The film Panga, though set in the backdrop of kabaddi, is also about family values, relationships and challenging oneself. The film story already sounds interesting so we can’t wait for the film to go on floors.

Talking about the story, the director says, “A story that needs to be told and I’m telling it at the right time. That it’s also linked to a sport makes it more challenging,”

When quizzed on how she managed to convince Kangana to be a part of Panga, Ashwiny says, “She instantly called me back and asked why I was introducing myself. I met her on April 14, the South Indian New Year, and soon after the narration, she was on board, saying I was her first woman director.”

In the recent past, there were reports that Ashwiny had included a non-interference clause in Kangana’s contract. However, the same had been denied by both ladies.

Reiterating the same, she said, “I like to make my own judgments on work, interactions and equations. No one has the right to pass snap judgments on my personal relationships. My equations have always been cordial and I trust Kangana to bring this character alive and she trusts me.”
