The 22nd film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Endgame is the highest Hollywood grosser at the Indian box office and third highest grosser among all the films that have released in India. The Marvel’s magnum opus recently crossed the records of the box office king Avatar and became the highest worldwide grosser of all time by earning $2.79 billion. Until last week Avatar was the highest box office grosser worldwide with $ 2.789 billion.
The Russo Brothers’ directorial Endgame broke the global box office record of Avatar after nine years. The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige said, “Thanks to you, Avengers: Endgame is the biggest film of all-time.” Endgame took the place of top grosser worldwide after the film got re-released on June 28 with the deleted Hulk sequence, a Stan Lee tribute and a post-credits scene featuring characters from the recently released Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Before Endgame, the all-time top grossing films worldwide were James Cameron’s Avatar which was followed by his Titanic. Cameron yesterday took to twitter to congratulate Avengers: Endgame on becoming ‘the new box office king’. Endgame had surpassed the lifetime global numbers of Titanic ($2.187 billion) in just 10 days of its release and even at that time Cameron had congratulated the film.
