Bharat leads among the highest first day grossers of 2019

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif-starrer Bharat, based on the 2014 South Korean film Ode To My Father, did wonders at the box office on the day of its release on June 5. The film released in theatres during the festival of Eid and it became the highest day one grosser of 2019 by collecting Rs 42.10 crore.

Prior to this, the highest day one grosser of the current year was Dharma Production’s Kalank, a multi-starrer, which grossed Rs 21.60 crore. This makes Bharat’s collections approximately 95 per cent higher than that of Kalank. Following Bharat and Kalank, the other films among the top five grossers of the 2019 include Kesari with Rs 21.06 crore, Gully Boy with Rs 17.86 crore and Total Dhamaal with Rs 16.32 crore.

Bharat’s collections are the result of the strong buzz surrounding the film particularly thanks to its star cast and director. The advance booking over the coming weekend is also quite strong as expectations from the film are sky-high.
