Bharat vis-a-vis Sultan, but a win-win for Salman Khan anyway you see it

The festival of Eid has always proved to be lucky for Salman Khan as well as director Ali Abbas Zafar. The duo's recent release Bharat opened with highest numbers as far as all the Salman Khan's films are concerned and also as far as all the 2019 releases so far are concerned. Zafar has directed two films of the actor previously, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai, which became Rs 300-crore hits. Among these two films 2016 Sultan was also released during the festival of Eid.

Interestingly, just like BharatSultan was also released on a Wednesday and it had a five-day weekend. The first day numbers of Bharat were approximately 15 per cent higher than that of Sultan while the first weekend numbers of Sultan are approximately 45 per cent higher than that of Bharat. What remains to be seen is the difference in the lifetime numbers of both the films from the Khan and Zafar jodi.

Bharat, featuring Katrina Kaif opposite Khan, is based on the 2014 South Korean film Ode To My Father directed by Yoon Je-kyoon. The film traces the life of a common man during India's post-independence period, from the age of 18 to 70.
