Films based on dance are not new to Tamil cinema. Also some of the top actresses in Tamil cinema have been fantastic dancers; Vyjayantimala and Padmini were trained classical dancers. We have also had actors like Kamal Haasan and Prabhu Deva who have showcased their dancing talent on scree. There have been quite a few films based on dance; but the onces that come to mind are may be Thillana Mohanambal and Salangai Oli. Of course there have been many memorable dance numbers in films, but a film dedicated to dance hasn't been seen in quite sometime.
Lakshmi directed by Vijay starring Prabhu Deva is expected to change that. A film exclusively on dance, it tells the story of the bonding between a master and his disciple, both dedicated to their art.
Aishwarya Rajesh plays the female lead. Baby Ditya plays the pivotal role of the disciple. Her dance skills can be seen in the video song Morrakka. Sam CS has composed the music to Madhan Karky's lyrics. Prateek Chakravorty and Shruti Nallapa of Pramod films and Trident Arts's R Ravindran have produced this 'Biggest Festival of Dance'.
The trailer of the film was recently released and the movie is expected to hit screens this month.
