Box office collection analysis of June: 2009 to 2019

June 2019 has been amazing for the Hindi film industry with two films attaining the 200-crore mark at the box office. The highest grosser of the month was the Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani-starrer Kabir Singh with Rs 229.04 crore, which was followed by the Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif-starrer Bharat with Rs 200.88 crore. Collectively, the total business of all the Hindi releases in June came to Rs 480 crore and is still counting with Kabir Singh and Article 15 going well at the cinemas.

However, it is still not the highest in the past decade in terms of June month's business from 2009 to 2018. Last year, in the month of June, all the Hindi films that were released did a collective business of Rs 584.79 crore at the box office which is 21.83 per cent higher than June 2019. June 2018 is right now the most profitable June month of the decade; it had films like Sanju (Rs 329.25 crore), Race 3 (Rs 167.65 crore) and Veere Di Wedding (Rs 85.80 crore).

Last year there were 10 films that released in June and the average collections per film came to Rs 58.48 crore. This year we had 14 Hindi releases and the average comes to Rs 34.29 crore approximately per film. In terms of the average per film, June 2017 was the dullest of all with Rs 6.32 crore; the month had 24 Hindi releases which is highest in the past decade.
