Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon-starrer Luka Chuppi shot up by 29 per cent and 78 per cent on its day two and three respectively, earning Rs 30.47 crore in its first weekend. The film collected Rs 9.63 crore on its day two i.e. Saturday and Rs 13.35 crore on its day three i.e. Sunday. As solo stars, this film is the highest weekend grosser of the lead duo’s career. Positive word of mouth and the popularity and performance of both actors seems to have shown its magic at the ticket counters.
Prior to Luka Chuppi, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety was Kartik’s highest grossing film on the first weekend which earned Rs 26.57 crore. His latest film’s weekend collection was 15 per cent higher than the earlier one. Similarly, for Kriti, Luka Chuppi’s collection was 47 per cent higher than her debut film Heropanti, which was also her highest grossing film on the first weekend as a solo actress.
The film is doing well pan India and is expected to earn well even today due to a public holiday on account of Mahashivratri.
