Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl: In the film, Pankaj Tripathi played the supportive father to Janhvi Kapoor's titular character in the Netflix release. Anup Saxena who acknowledges the difficulties that girls have to face while pursuing their dreams, but at the same time tells his daughter that “shutting yourself in a cage is not the solution, in fact she should fly higher to achieve what she wants". Anup Saxena aka Pankaj in the film is a lot more like in real life, calm and focused. His role in the film has been highly appreciated by fans and critics. The film was directed by Sharan Sharma.
Bareilly ki Barfi: In this film also Pankaj Tripathi played the role of a charming father to Kriti Sanon. In Bareilly ki Barfi, the actor's character was very understanding. From listening to his daughter's love-life problems to sharing cigarettes with her, Tripathi was a delight to watch and also inspired alot of father out there, no matter what, support your daughter in every situation rather being judgemental towards their decision. The film was directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari.
Angrezi Medium: Pankaj Tripathi doesn't need a leading role to leave his mark. The actor did a cameo role in the film but it has managed to wow the viewers. Tony played by Pankaj, a wheeler-dealer who runs a travel agency and helps Irrfan's character and his on-screen daughter reach the United Kingdom. His short appearance with Irrfan and Deepak Dobriyal is one of the best yet memorable one.
Stree: Pankaj Tripathi as Rudra pulled the horror-comedy Stree more in the limelight with his catchy dialogues. Pankaj Tripath who played the wise librarian and resident spirit expert, was a delight to watch onscreen. He shared the screen space with Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor and Aparshkati Khurrana.
Masaan: Neeraj Ghaywan film featured Vicky Kausal, Shweta Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra, Pankaj Tripathi and Richa Chaddha in pivotal roles. In the film, Tripathi essayed the subtle role of Richa Chaddha's co-worker Safhya Ji. Pankaj's power-packed performance and hard-hitting dialogues had grabbed a lot of attention.
