Shushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor's Chhichhore that released in the first week of September is enjoying a great run at the box office. The film started on a slow note but picked up quite well due to positive word-of-mouth. It is expected to cross the 100-crore mark at the box office even before it completes its second week. The film stands at Rs 98.42 crore after its 12th day at the ticket counters.
Apart from Chhichhore, there was another release this year, Student Of The Year 2 (SOTY 2), which was also about college life and friendships. If we look at the business pattern of both the films, SOTY 2 day one and weekend one collections were higher than that of Chhichhore. However, as far as first week numbers are concerned, SOTY 2 earned Rs 56.63 crore while Chhichhore earned Rs 66.46 crore at the box office. The numbers are given in the table below.

Let us see the difference in the footfalls of both the films in their first week in the top four cinema chains of India - PVR, Inox, Carnival and Cinepolis. The difference over one week is 56.12 per cent, giving Chhichhore the upper hand. As per the table below, the week one footfalls of Chhichhore is 54.91 per cent higher than that of SOTY 2 in PVR, in Inox it is 43.14 per cent higher, in Carnival it is 51.35 per cent higher, and in Cinepolis it is 97.88 per cent higher.
