Debutants Of 2019


Karan Deol: Elder son of actor Sunny Deol, Karan Deol started his career as an assistant director on the sets of the 2013 film, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2. He is now all set to foray into Bollywood as an actor with Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, a love story directed by his father. The film will hit the screens in mid-2019.  

Saher Bamba: In the same film, Saher Bamba will be seen sharing screen space opposite Deol as his love interest. A resident of Shimla, Bamba was a beauty contest winner. She was studying in Mumbai when she auditioned for her part in the film.


Alaia Furniturewalla: She was born to actor and television show host, Pooja Bedi. After much speculation, the youngster will now be marking her debut in Nitin Kakkar’s directorial, Jawaani Jaaneman. She will essay the role of Saif Ali Khan’s daughter in the film. It will be produced by Khan and Jay Shewakramani under the banners of Black Night Films and Northern Lights Films.


Ananya Panday: Chunky Panday’s daughter, who is already a star on social media, will mark her debut in Punit Malhotra directed Student Of The Year 2. It will be produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions. Panday will be seen along with Tiger Shroff and another debutante, Tara Sutaria in the film. It is slated for a May 10 release.

Tara Sutaria: A trained ballet dancer and professional opera singer, she started her career as a video jockey in 2010. With popular teenage sitcoms to her credit, Sutaria will start her career as a Bollywood actor with the film. Post that, she will share screen space with Sidharth Malhotra in Milap Milan Zaveri’s action-romance film titled Marjaavaan that will release on October 2.


Emily Shah: The former Miss New Jersey will venture into the Hindi film industry with the Abhay Deol starrer Jungle Cry. Shah recently graduated from California State University with a degree in Entertainment Media Management, and had been an assistant director in films like Fast And Furious 7, Captain America, Run All Night and Jersey Boys. Directed by Sagar Ballary, it will hit the theatres during Summer 2019.


Zaheer Iqbal: Salman Khan is all set to launch Zaheer Iqbal, son of his childhood friend, Iqbal Ratansi. Zaheer, who earlier was a part of his family’s real estate business, will now make his debut with Notebook, a love story based in Kashmir.

Pranutan Bahl: The film will also serve as a launch pad to Pranutan Bahl, actor Mohnish Bahl’s daughter. Bahl is a qualified lawyer who has worked with some of the prominent law firms in the country. Notebook will release on March 29.


Sanjana Sanghi: A journalism graduate from the University of Delhi, Sanjana Sanghi was born and brought up in Delhi. At the age of 14, she played Nargis Fakhri’s sister in Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar. Post that, she began modelling for popular brands. Sanghi will now be seen playing the female lead opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in Mukesh Chhabra’s debut directorial outing, Kizie Aur Manny based on a bestseller, The Fault In Our Stars.  


Karan Kapadia: Dimple Kapadia’s nephew and son of actor-costume designer Simple Kapadia, Karan Kapadia is all set to foray into Bollywood with Blank, a coming-of-age film directed by Behzad Khambata. Kapadia trained himself in martial arts before he began the shoot for his film. Also starring Sunny Deol, the film is produced by Dr Shrikant Bhasi, Nishant Pitti, Tony D’Souza and Vishal Rana. Blank will release on January 11.


Isabelle Kaif: Isabelle Kaif is all set to follow the path carved by her superstar sister, Katrina Kaif. Speculations were rife regarding her big Bollywood debut ever since she landed in Mumbai where was frequently spotted alongside her sister at major events in the city. The dance film, directed by Stanley D’Costa, also features Sooraj Pancholi in the lead role. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Lizelle D’Souza under the banners of T-Series and Remo D’Souza Entertainment.


Iulia Vantur: A television presenter, performer and actor of Romanian origin, Iulia Vantur had ventured into the Bollywood music scene with films like O Teri, Race 3, Veere Di Wedding and Genius. Now with Radha Kyon Gori Main Kyon Kaala, she will be seen on the big screen for the first time. Jimmy Sheirgill is also part of the film that is directed by Prem R Soni. The film is produced by Prernaa Arora and Soni under Studio Five Elements and Premraj Pictures, and will release in May 2019.


Ankita Lokhande: After gracing the small screen for several years with Pavitra Rishta, TV actor Ankita Lokhande will finally appear on the silver screen with Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi. She will play the role of Jhalkaribai, a soldier in the film. Directed by Krish and Ranaut, the film will release on January 25.  


Ahan Shetty: Four years after his sister Athiya Shetty kick-started her career, Ahan Shetty is set to begin his journey as a film actor with the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit film, RX 100. A graduate in acting and filmmaking from the States, the youngster will be directed by Milan Luthria. The action-drama will be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.


Vardhan Puri: Late actor Amrish Puri’s grandson Vardhan Puri will foray into the film industry with Cherag Ruparel’s film titled Paagal. He has been paired opposite Shivaleeka Oberoi who also faced the camera for the first time.

Shivaleeka Oberoi: Oberoi had earlier been an assistant director on films such as Kick and Housefull 3. Paagal, a romantic-thriller flick is produced by Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Movies.


Anmol Thakeria Dhillon: Twelve years after launching newcomers with Saawariya, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next production venture will be the launch pad for two fresh faces yet again. Actor Poonam Dhillon and producer Ashok Thakeria’s son Anmol Thakeria Dhillon has been zeroed in as the male lead.

Jhataleka Malhotra: The winner of Miss India International in 2014, she is paired opposite Thakeria in the film titled Tuesdays And Fridays which is being directed by Taranveer Singh.  


Shreya Dhanwanthary: After making a mark in the Telugu film industry and the web space, former Miss India participant Shreya Dhawanthary is all set to enter the Hindi film industry with Cheat India where she will play love interest to Emraan Hashmi. The film is directed by Soumik Sen and produced by T-Series, Ellipsis Entertainment and Emraan Hashmi Films. It will release on January 25.


Nithya Menen: A credible name in the South Indian film industries, Nithya Menen has given us memorable films like Bangalore Days and O Kadhal Kanmani in the past. The actor will now kick start her Hindi film career with the space film, Mission Mangal. Produced by Akshay Kumar’s Cape Of Good Films and R Balki’s Hope Productions, this Jagan Shakti directorial will release on the Independence Day.


Nandish Sandhu: After playing Veer Singh Bundela in the popular television drama Uttaran, Nandish Sandhu became a name to reckon with. This year, the actor will be seen venturing into Bollywood with Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30. He is reportedly playing the protagonist’s brother in the film. The film is a collaboration of Reliance Entertainment, HRX Films, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Phantom Films.


Rinzing Denzongpa: Actor Danny Denzongpa’s son Rizing Denzongpa is following the footsteps of his father. The young actor will soon be seen on celluloid with Squad, an action flick. Directed and produced by Nilesh Sahay, the film revolves around a little girl and the battle royale between Special Forces. The film will roll in April.


Abhimanyu Dassani: Son of actor Bhagyashree, Abhimanyu Dassani auditioned his way through to make his Bollywood debut with Vasan Bala’s Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota that will hit the screens this year. The film went on to win many awards at film festivals. The newbie is paired opposite Patakhaa fame Radhika Madan in the film.


Meezaan Jaaferi: Sanjay Leela Bhansali will launch Meezaan Jaaferi, son of actor Jaaved Jaaferi in Mangesh Hadawale’s directorial outing. Jaaferi had assisted Bhansali on the sets of Bajirao Mastani.

Sharmin Segal: Daughter of Bhansali’s sister Bela Segal, Sharmin Segal will share screen space with Jaaferi in the same film which is reportedly a musical love story.


Prit Kamani, Anshuman Malhotra, Simran Sharma, Tushar Pandey: The young actors are all set to mark their big debut with Sooraj Barjatya’s production venture titled Hum Chaar. While Kamani of Jumbo Jutts fame is a YouTube sensation, Malhotra became popular with MTV’s Warrior High. Sharma was seen in Blue Mountains and the 2018 Telugu film, Ego. Pandey had played small parts in films like Pink and Phantom. After this film, Pandey will also be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore that will release on August 30. Hum Chaar is directed by Abhishek Dixit and will release in early 2019.  


Shraddha Srinath: Shraddha Srinath was born to an army officer of a Kannadiga family in Jammu and Kashmir. Before becoming a part of films, she worked as a real estate lawyer with a Bangalore-based real estate company. Srinath had also worked in plays and advertisements. After acting in few Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil films, she is now debuting as the female lead opposite Ali Fazal in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Milan Talkies, a love story set in a small town.


Eshan Naqvi: Besides being a former badminton champion who won multiple awards, he is also a musician who launched his independent music album Kaarvan in 2016. Naqvi was coaching Shraddha Kapoor for her film Saina, a biopic of badminton star, Saina Nehwal. To play Nehwal’s love interest and husband, Parupalli Kashyap in the film, director Amol Gupte has cast Naqvi.


Megha Akash: Tamil and Telugu actress Megha Akash was born in Chennai. She made her acting debut in a Telugu movie Lie and is now about to make her Hindi debut with Irfan Kamal directorial Satellite Shankar where she will be playing the female lead opposite Sooraj Pancholi. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, the film is based on the adventures of an Indian soldier.


Vedhika Kumar: After working in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films, Vedhika Kumar will now make her debut in Hindi cinema as a female lead with the film The Body, directed by Jeethu Joseph. The film starring Emraan Hashmi and Rishi Kapoor is an investigative thriller around a missing dead body.


Regina Cassandra: Born in Chennai, actor Regina Cassandra did her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Women’s Christian College in Chennai. She started anchoring at the age of nine and made her acting debut with a Tamil film named Kanda Naal Mudhal and will now make her Bollywood debut with the Sonam K Ahuja and Rajkummar Rao-starrer Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga where she will be playing a parallel lead. The film is scheduled to release on February 1.
