Dharma’s recent release SOTY2 had half the audience coming to theatres in week 1 as compared to their Kesari, in four multiplex chains

Big banner films have their own charm in the Hindi film industry. Recently we have seen a mixture of hits as well as disappointing films as far as big banner films are concerned. Among all these big production houses, Dharma Productions is the only one which has already given us three major films in first five months of 2019 – Kesari, Kalank and Student Of The Year 2 (SOTY2).

All these films had different fates at the box office. While Kesari did good business, Kalank’s fate didn’t shine much and SOTY2 had a decent week one. If we compare the admit of first week of Kesari with SOTY2, then the Akshay Kumar-starrer overpowered the film starring Tiger Shroff. Kesari’s audiences were almost two times that of SOTY2 in the first week of the films’ release. However, we can’t ignore the fact that Kesari also had the benefit of Holi as well as an eight day week one.

Below given table shows the admit of both the films in top four cinema chains of India - PVR, Inox, Carnival and Cinepolis.

First week admit compare
Multiplex Holi Thursday 1st week Kesari 8 Days SOTY 2
PVR Cinemax 1,83,865 9,42,354 11,26,219 6,51,348
Inox 1,77,904 7,74,020 9,51,924 5,44,704
Carnival 1,10,298 4,93,997 6,04,295 3,10,101
Cinepolis 81,983 4,07,013 4,88,996 2,23,671
Total 5,54,050 26,17,384 31,71,434 17,29,824

According to the number of the footfalls in the table above, Kesari's number is 1.73 times higher than that of SOTY2 in PVR, 1.75 times higher in Inox, 1.95 times higher in Carnival and 2.19 times higher in Cinepolis.
