With just a week away from its release, the soundtrack of the Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon starrer Dilwale has finally released. This will be the second album composed by Pritam for Shah Rukh Khan, the last album being Billu in 2009. With the lyrical genius of Amitabh Bhattacharya, Pritam has churned out seven tracks. While three songs from the album are already steadily climbing the charts, we also listened to the other songs to know how high the entire soundtrack scores.
The launch song Gerua has not only captured hearts with its picturesque video but has also made a good impression with the powerful vocals of Arijit Singh. Antara Mitra has complemented Singh’s voice and escalates the melodious flavour of the song. The music composition is simple yet classy, with its main focus being the vocals. This typical romantic number is filled with the sounds of violin, piano and percussion instruments.
Manma emotion jaage is a fun song filled with zest and vigour. This club dance number features some innovative and catchy tunes and is paired with Hindi-Bhojpuri lyrics. The song gets classic treatment in an interlude similar too Aage peeche from Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal-Fun Unlimited. These interludes of the song and the quirky lyrics will catch the attention of listeners. The young and lively voices of Amit Mishra, Antara Mitra and Anushka Manchanda suit Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.
The addictive theme of Dilwale that was featured in the trailer is the musical composition of the song Janam janam. Once again, Arijit Singh goes behind the mic and is supported by Mitra in this duet. This romantic number is heavy on musical orchestration filled with symphony tunes. Although not as catchy as Gerua, this theme composition grows on you.
Pritam brings Goan sound and spirit to Tukur tukur, which is sung by Arijit Singh, Kanika online casino Kapoor, Neha Kakkar, Siddharth Mahadevan and Nakash Aziz. It is nice to hear the singer belting out an energetic track after a string of romantic melodies. The high-energy dance number clubbed with catchy lyrics will make a great song if accompanied by a well-choreographed video.
Looks like Arijit Singh is the face of the album and has become the go-to singer for Pritam! Daayre has Singh singing a sad song that features a typical Pritam-style musical arrangement focusing on guitar strums. It is a perfect balance between music and vocals.
The album gets new voices with Benny Dayal and Kanika Kapoor for Premika. This jazzy dance number, filled with drums, guitar and percussion beats, gives listeners a feeling of déjà vu but makes for a good party number. Bhattacharya has written catchy and quirky lyrics for this track.
The soundtrack ends with the Dilwale Theme track, a montage of all the songs. The track gets EDM treatment, effectively making up for the lack of remix tracks.
Verdict: A complete mix of romantic and commercial party songs, released at the right time of the year
