Last Friday saw the release of two films, Dream Girl, a comic caper and Section 375, a courtroom drama. In Dream Girl, Ayushmann Khurrana plays a middle-class boy who lands himself a job at a ‘friendship’ call centre where he has to impersonate the voice of a certain girl Pooja. It emerged as the highest day one earner of Khurrana's career. The Raaj Shaandilyaa directorial has performed exceptionally well in its first weekend by raking in Rs 44.10 crore.
Section 375, on the other hand, had a rather slow start at the box office. Starring Akshaye Khanna and Richa Chadha, the film is about a costume designer assistant who files a rape complaint against a director. It garnered Rs 6.13 crore after its first weekend.
There seems to be no stopping the ensemble cast films, Chhichhore and Mission Mangal. Chhichhore starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma, Naveen Polishetty, Tahir Raj Bhasin and others earned Rs 90.69 crore after its second weekend. Mission Mangal that stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari Sehgal and Sharman Joshi has been doing well and has earned Rs 189.65 crore after its fourth week.
Saaho, a sci-fi action-thriller, starring Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor, directed by Sujeeth is still steady at the box office. The Hindi version of the film has clocked in Rs 134.08 crore at the box office in its second week.
