INDIAN CONNECT
Pan Nalin’s Angry Indian Goddesses, Q’s Brahman Naman and Leena Yadav’s Parched have been shortlisted as entries from India. Angry Indian Goddesses is a story of seven girls who are celebrating a bachelorette party that takes a wild turn, resulting in a life-changing event, whereasBrahman Naman is a lusty and funny take on the clichéd US ‘nerds obsessed with sex’ teen comedy that charts the antics of a group of geeks against the backdrop of Bangalore in the 1980s.Parched is about four female residents of a town situated in the desert land of Rajasthan openly discussing men, sex and life together, while contending with the sexism rampant in their own community.

CLOSING FILM
Whisky Galore!
Gillies MacKinnon’s film details the story of the inhabitants of an isolated Scottish island, where gloom sets in as their wartime rationing of whisky runs out. When the freighter SS Cabinet Minister runs aground nearby during a heavy fog, the islanders are delighted to learn that its cargo consists of 50,000 cases of whisky. As the English commanding officer Captain Waggett demands return of the liquor, shopkeeper Joseph Macroon, his daughters Peggy and Catriona spearhead an island rebellion.
