Eid has again proved lucky for Salman Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar

Eid has always been lucky for Salman Khan. In the past decade, almost all the films that he came up with during the festival of Eid has opened with record breaking numbers. 2019 Eid has been no different. Bharat, featuring Katrina Kaif opposite Khan, has opened with highest numbers among all his Eid releases. The film minted Rs 42.10 crore on the first day and is followed by Sultan (Rs 36.54 crore) and Ek Tha Tiger (Rs 30.35 crore). Bharat's day one earnings is approximately 15 per cent higher than that of Sultan and approximately 39 per cent higher than that of Ek Tha Tiger

Interestingly all the films mentioned above have been written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Bharat is based on the 2014 South Korean film Ode To My Father directed by Yoon Je-kyoon. The film traces the life of a common man during India's post-independence period, from the age of 18 to 70. What remains to be seen is the numbers the film will garner on its first long weekend.
