Diljit Dosanjh is a man of many talents. Apart from being an actor, a stage performer, a television presenter and a singer, he has recently turned a producer too. In his upcoming film, Arjun Patiala, he is sharing screen space with Kriti Sanon and Varun Sharma. The ‘Arjun Patiala Marketing’ videos dropped by the makers have been gaining a lot of attention. In the videos, we see Kriti as a marketing guru providing tips to her co-stars on the aspect of marketing.
We caught up with the multi-faceted Diljit a few days ago where he talked at length about the marketing aspect of Punjabi films. On asking him about his opinion on marketing, he explained to us the entire process of how marketing takes place for Punjabi films. “In Punjabi films, we decide the budget and the marketing techniques according to what we feel are the best for the film. I am actively involved in these aspects there. I need not be involved in the marketing of a Hindi film because there is a very good team here who decides it. The scenario is very different in the Punjabi film industry. We chalk out a plan to spend maybe an amount of one or two lakh or we give that amount to somebody who uses it to market a film according to their strategy. We divide up the amount in terms of how much must be spent on television and how much must be spent on social media marketing. I have a very clear idea of the amount that we are spending there for marketing,” he said.
He also said that things a function differently in the Hindi film industry and he is not aware of how marketing takes place here. “Marketing is a bigger sphere here in the Hindi film industry and it is something that I am not much aware of.”
Diljit will be marking his debut as a producer with Jodi, a Punjabi film. His production house, Dosanjhwala Production is collaborating with Amrinder Gill’s production house, Rhythm Boyz to produce the film.
When we asked him about being producing Hindi films, he quickly responded, “Why not? Producing a film is no big deal!”
