Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Article 15, directed by Anubhav Sinha, is grabbing the headlines for all the right reasons. The film was premiered as the opening film at the 10th edition of the London Indian Film Festival. It received wide critical acclaim at the film festival.
The film talks about Article 15 of the Constitution of India that prohibits discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth. Ayushmann is already being lauded for pushing the envelope and slipping under the kind of a character beyond his forte. Talking about it, the actor who exclusively talked to us a couple of days ago said, “You know what I think, every person who is a mainstream actor should do films like this, films which are socially responsible. It gives them a chance to do something for the society every two to three films.”
When asked about his expectations from the box office, he said, “This film for me is like a passion project and I am not thinking of a particular opening or the first day numbers and all. I am looking for the fact that it should create a certain impact in the society and of course, I know that things will not change overnight but at least there will be a beginning of a discussion on this particular subject. That is the main target of the film, which is what we want to achieve with this film.”
We wish the actor all the very best!
Article 15 is produced by Anubhav Sinha and Zee Studios. The Benaras Mediaworks production also stars Nassar, Isha Talwar, Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub. It is slated for a release on June 28, 2019.
