Manav Kaul, who was last seen in Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyun Aa Raha Hai?, has been roped in to play the role of a coach in Saina. The film, based on the life of Saina Nehwal, the badminton champion from India who won the Olympics bronze medal in 2012, stars Parineeti Chopra in the lead role.
As per sources, the Tumhari Sulu actor will draw inspiration from all the coaches that have trained Saina and played an important role in her life. When we contacted Manav, he said, “It is true. I am doing some other projects also. So we are still working on the dates and fixing them. The film will go on floors in October. Right now, the prep is going on.”
Saina has trained under several coaches that includes Pullela Gopichand during which she brought home Olympics gold medal and then under former national champion, Vimal. It will be interesting to watch Manav, who wowed everyone with his performance in Kai Po Che!, Ghoul and Music Teacher, play this interesting character.
Parineeti is currently undergoing rigorous training sessions for the biopic. Saina will be directed by Amole Gupte and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar’s T-Series banner.
