Mrunal Thakur is currently basking under the success of Super 30. She will next be seen in Batla House where she will share screen space with John Abraham. Another interesting project in her kitty includes Baahubali: Before The Beginning, a prequel to Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion.
In a recent chat with team Box Office India, the Love Sonia actor shed some light on the Netflix Original series. She says, “I don’t think I can talk about it much. But I can say that it’s an iconic character and I’m very excited to play Sivagami.” She also reveals that the project has already begun.
Ramya Krishnan who played Rajamatha Sivagami Devi received wide critical acclaim for her portrayal of the powerful queen. Mrunal says that she feels a sense of responsibility as she is all set to reprise the character. “There’s no pressure but internally, I sometimes feel responsible because a lot of people have connected to that character. They have high hopes from me as well. I hope I can match up to the benchmark that Ramya has set for the audience. She was impeccable and so expressive. I’m her biggest fan. After Baahubali, the second character that I like is that of Sivagami,” she says.
Baahubali: The Beginning that released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi in 2015 was a game-changer for Indian cinema. The second part, Baahubali: The Conclusion remains the highest-grossing film in India till date.
Baahubali: Before The Beginning is based on Anand Neelakantan’s book titled The Rise of Sivagami. The prequel series traces the dramatic rise of Queen Sivagami and her empire.
