Earlier this year the audience saw the finale of the epic show, Game Of Thrones. The much awaited season eight received a lot of flak from the viewers for not living up to the mark of the show’s previous seasons. The show was based on the books by George RR Martin, A Song Of Ice and Fire.
In a recent interview with an leading international daily, Martin expressed that the show did not have a positive effect on him. He said, “I don’t think (the TV series) was very good for me. The very thing that should have speeded me up actually slowed me down. Every day I sat down to write and even if I had a good day… I’d feel terrible because I’d be thinking: ‘My God, I have to finish the book. I’ve only written four pages when I should have written 40’.”
Martin’s last book and the recent addition to the series was A Dance With Dragons which was published in 2011. The author is currently penning his sixth novel called, The Winds Of Winter.
In the interview, Martin also reassured the readers that whatever was shown in the final season of the TV show, GoT, will have no impact on the books of the same series. He has two more books to write in this series, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring, for which the Martin will continue with his original plan.
“It doesn’t change anything at all. You can’t please everybody, so you’ve got to please yourself. They’ll find out when I finish,” he said.
