Happy birthday, Madhuri Dixit Nene: Our favourite performances of this immensely talented actress

Madhuri Dixit Nene is one of the most remarkable actors we have had in Bollywood. Her nuanced performances, that mega-watt smile, her impeccable dance moves, the sheer variety of expressions has left us all mesmerised time and again. After making her acting debut in Abodh in 1984, she made headlines with the film, Tezaab and forever became our Ek, do, teen girl. She went from strength to strength with unforgettable performances in films such as Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak, Saajan, Pukar, Tridev, Dil, Beta, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Devdas and many more blockbusters.

Today on her special day, let's have a look at a few of her best on-screen characters:

Mohini: Tezaab (1988)

Tezaab is the 1998 hit film which catapulted Madhuri Dixit to fame and made her the darling of the masses. Her performance was hugely praised by the audience and made the industry take notice of her immense talent. The song Ek do teen became an anthem of sorts and till today, remains one of Bollywood's most popular numbers. Her chemistry with Anil Kapoor in this one was much-talked about.

Madhu Mehra: Dil (1990)

One of the most loveable characters of Dixit was in the film Dil. The film is a romantic drama and showcases the beautiful love story of Raja (played by Aamir Khan) and Madhu (played by Madhuri Dixit). Madhuri breathed life into her role as Madhu, a bubbly college girl who falls in love and how it changes her as a person.

Nisha Chaudhary: Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!(1994)

The beautiful chemistry of Prem (played by Salman Khan) and Nisha (played by Madhuri Dixit) was the sweetest thing in this film. The pairing and story touched every fan's heart. The movie also has an amazing list of songs like Didi tera devar deewana, Joote do paise lo, Pehla pehla pyar, Wah wah ramji and many more, each showcasing the firecracker of a performer that Dixit is!

Pooja: Dil Toh Pagal Hai (1997)

The film Dil Toh Pagal Hai is a musical romance that deals with the life of three dancers Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), Nisha (Karisma Kapoor) and Pooja (Madhuri Dixit). Dixit looked like a dream in this Yash Chopra directorial as she waits for her prince charming to sweep her off her feet. Songs like Bholi si surat, Chand ne kuch kaha, Chak dum dum and many more had Dixit giving men all over India sleepless nights.

Chandramukhi: Devdas (2002)

One of the most different characters that Dixit played was in the movie Devdas as Chandramukhi. Her adaas as Chandramukhi in the film as she impresses Devdas (SRK) was like a fail-proof tutorial for any new actress looking for some inspiration and invaluable tips. The songs Dhaai shyaam and Dola re dola were loved by her fans and allowed her to make a place in their hearts even more firmly.

As Dixit has won over our hearts with each of her performance, we can't do enough justice to her by only listing five of her roles that are our favourites. Nevertheless, this is our way of thanking her for the delight that she has given each of us by simply being on screen.

We at Box Office India wish Madhuri Dixit Nene a wonderful birthday. You can share your wishes and of course your favourite Madhuri Dixit Nene movie character in the comments section below.
