After their much liked EDM heavy album for Go Goa Gone last year with Illumanti Films and Dinesh Vijan last year, Sachin-Jigar team up yet again for romcom Happy Ending.
The album starts with the romantic breezy track Mileya mileya in Rekha Bharadwaj’s vocals with Priya Andrews and Jigar Saraiya. What makes the track stand out is the saxophone by Shirish Malhotra throughout.
Amitabh Bhattacharya brings in his quirkiness to the album with Paaji tussi such a pussycat. Going behind the mic for this one, he leaves a mark with his dramatic rendition of the track. The composers get in an enjoyable orchestration with banjo, trumpet and amusing comical vocals by Jigar Saraiya and Divya Kumar. Paaji… is the definite fun riot track of the album! Amusingly, the cast kept describing it as a break up track at the launch.
Sachin-Jigar get their Telugu composition Meher meher and recreate it for Jaise tera mein. Going by the fact, that every second romantic track played on radio is sung by Arijit Singh, how can this album be complete without him? While Singh aces as usual, Priya Saraiya’s husky voice blends well with the sweetness of Singh’s vocals and makes for an interesting combo. With minimal orchestration and excellent harmonium bits, the track highlights the vocal prowess of the duo.
Next comes G phaadke, which can easily be labeled as the party anthem. With its catchy hookline, the track is instantly likeable and hard to ignore. Divya Kumar’s vocals are a clear winner here. Along with Shefali Alvares and a mix of club and electronic music, the power packed song is already ruling the charts. Govinda is back with his unconventional dance steps in the video and is a must see.
The composers bring in folksy touch with Khamma ghani. The composers give a fresh touch to the marwadi folk tune with soothing guitar riffs. Papon’s strong voice and Smita and Vidhi’s smooth backing vocals gives a nice ring to the track. Amitabh Bhatacharya’s Hindi and Urdu lyric play do justice to the song.
The album ends with Haseena tu kameena main sung by Siddharth Basrur, Rahul Pandey and Shruti Pathak. The track is absolutely trippy and grown on your on repeated listens. It has a good mixture of urban and contemporary sound which is clubbed with thumping percussions.
Verdict: Sachin-Jigar cement their position in Bollywood with brillaint compositions in Happy Ending. It’s a must listen.
