Actress-Parliamentarian Hema Malini released her debut bhajan album Gopala Ko Samarpan at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When Hema Malini presented the album to Modi, he told her he had already heard her chants and was sure her album would be as good. To this, Hema Malini replied saying, “The entire credit goes to Narayan Agarwal, a Krishna bhakt, who is known for bringing out the best of Jagjit Singh and Anup Jalota bhajans. When Narayanji asked me to sing eight tracks for this album, I was hesitant as I am not a professional singer. But he insisted that I listen to all the compositions first before taking the final call.” The album will also be launched at ISKCON Temple in Mumbai on Janmashtami, on August 13. Classical stalwarts like Hariprasad Chaurasia, Suresh Wadkar and Shankar Mahadevan will be present on the occasion.
