Every Eid, since the past few years, Salman Khan has been ruling over theatres with blockbusters such as Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kick, Dabangg and Bodyguard. But in 2017, he released Tubelight, directed by Kabir Khan. The film did not turn out to be a blockbuster and was trashed by both audiences and critics.
While Salman Khan is all set to wow fans and the industry with his upcoming film Bharat this Eid, he recently had something to say about the failure of Tubelight. Agreeing that the Kabir Khan film failed to connect with the audience, the superstar said in an interview with a Hindi newspaper, "It's about people's perspective. It was an emotional film and I felt that an Eid release for this film could have been avoided as people prefer watching action-packed dramas like Dabangg or Kick on Eid but we made them cry by watching Tubelight."
"People want to enjoy Eid by watching my films but they came back crying due to the storyline of Tubelight. Amidst all this, the film suffered. But now whenever the film is telecast on TV, people tell me that they really enjoy it," he added.
Bharat will release on June 5. It also stars Katrina Kaif and is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Produced by Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the banners of Salman Khan Films, T-Series and Reel Life Productions, the film also stars Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, Jackie Shroff, Sonali Kulkarni and Tabu in pivotal roles.
