There has been a generous buzz in the trade and distribution circles surrounding Diljit Dosanjh’s Shadaa. The poster of the film grabbed a lot of attention from fans who are excited to see the coming together of Diljit and Neeru Bajwa again. Their last release was Sardaarji in 2015.
The makers dropped the trailer of the Shadaa today. And we have to say that it has left us in splits.
From what we learn from the trailer, the film is a cynical take on the notion of marriage. We are introduced to the Punjabi munda Shadaa whose father is hell-bent on getting him married as he is way past the eligible age of marriage. He is constantly nagged by his father and neighbours for being a bachelor. As his search for a suitable girl continues, he meets the character played by Neeru. Eventually, they get married but life is definitely not a bed of roses for the two of them. Cut to the scene where we see Shadaa singing a song that translates to ‘God is generous to all my brothers who are unmarried’.
The three-minute trailer gives us a glimpse of Diljit in his true-blue element. He delivers some quirky one-liners that will crack you up. The film is coloured with drama, humour, peppy songs, an innocent and yet impish Diljit, the street-smart Neeru and hold your breath, it will teat you to Diljit singing Kanye West's song, I love it for a Kylie Jenner doll. Now we all know about Diljit’s love for the American model and socialite. In the trailer, Shadaa is seen telling his mother that the doll is his wife and they have a child who he calls ‘sadda munda’.
